Houses from the 1930s often have generous rooms but tired kitchens and original steel or timber windows. We regularly open up the back of these houses into one kitchen and dining space.
Several streets sit in the Hollins Vale conservation area. We can advise on what needs consent before you plan changes to windows or doors.
Many of these houses still have features worth keeping: panelled doors, picture rails and oak parquet. We repair and refinish them where we can and match new joinery to the old profiles.
Kitchen refits here often come with a new oak floor through the ground floor, which we lay ourselves.
Larger projects here usually run for four to eight weeks. We agree working hours and parking with you at the start and let the neighbours know before noisy days.
Some ground floors near the river meadows are damp, so we test before laying wood floors and choose finishes that cope with it.
